This course will take an in depth look at the art of building solid artificial and natural anchors in a safe and efficient manner with a minimum of equipment in any situation.
We will look at rock
and natural feature assessment, effective ground, top rope, and multi pitch anchors, equipment selection, application and correct usage.
Both the novice and expert will come away with many new skills at the end of this one day course.

- Creating pre and self-equalized anchors, there uses and limitations.
- Creating anchors using natural and artificial components
- Single and multi pitch anchor construction and evaluation
- Rock and natural features evaluation
- Fixed gear evaluation: bolts, pitons, slings, and stoppers.
- A detailed look at artificial gear placements including SLCD’s, stoppers, tri-cams, and hex’s.
- Climbing equipment construction, properties, limitations, and uses.
- Common myths and legends about climbing equipment.
- Climbing equipment testing.
- Multiplication of forces will be covered, such as vectors, pulley systems, cantilevering, leverage, and shock loading. We will look
at how these forces affect the anchor and how to reduce or eliminate these forces.
